Default 2003 mazda6 -->double din?

ive found the exect head unit i 'need' for my 2003 mazda6, but its a double din and the only dash kit i can find is a single din. i went to a shop to see what they can do and i was told it would cost nearly 1500 dollars just to rework the kit. can anyone point me in a better direction to get a double din head unit into a single din 2003 mazda6?

It's all custom my man! If you lived here I could get ya one for like 900-1000 but that's the price of originality!

In your original dash the whole panel that includes the stereo buttons & heater controls is a complete circuit board. You can hack into it hence the huge cost for after-market panels.
