The MX-6 is a sporty coupe that was manufactured by Mazda from 1988 until 1997. The MX-6 was built on the same framework as the
Forde Probe, which was the GD platform from 1988 until 1992 and the GE platform from 1993 until 1997 when production ceased. The MX-6 was one of several Mazda vehicles produced in a joint venture with Ford called the Auto Alliance.
The Mazda MX-6 had front wheel drive, which was attractive to many people. The first generation was considered a large coupe, and was powered by a 2.2 L SOHC straight 4 cylinder Mazda F2 engine. The basic model produced just 110 horsepower but there was also a turbo charged version avialable that pumped out an awesome 145 horsepower. The trim packages available for the MX-6 varied and gave the MX-6 a different look there was the DX, the LX, the LE, and the GT which offered different packages with the DX being the bare bones and the GT contained all the bells and whistles as well as a more powerful engine.
In 1992 the second generation of MX-6 hit the market using the GE platform for this go-round. This was the same platform that was used for the Mazda 626 and theFord Probe. There were two trim lines which were the base car with a 2.0 Litre engine and the LS version with a 2.5 Litre V6, which produced a very respectable horsepower.
