The Mazda MX-3 is a stylish four-seat coupe. The MX-3 was created on the Protege BG platform. The Mazda MX-3 was produced starting in 1991 and continued a fairly successful run until 1998. The Mazda MX-3 also had a special edition in 1993 in both Canada and the United States. The MX-3 was sold under the name of MX-3 Precidia in Canada or Mazda AZ-3 in Japan.
The Mazda MX-3 was offered with two different engines either the 1.6 Liter and the 1.8 Liter V6. The straight-4 was available in two different versions 88 horsepower and 106 horsepower DOHC/16-valve. There was a more powerful DOHC 24 valve V6 produced 127 horsepower and was offered with an automatic transmission. The MX-3 was well known for having the lowest displacement V6 engine ever placed inside a mass produced vehicle. The Mazda MX-3 V6 engine was impressive for its time and it brought the MX-3 a lot of attention.
The MX-3 boasted a top speed of 136 miles per hour and a remarkable acceleration from 0-60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds. There was no doubt about it; the MX-3 was one of the most easily handled cars in its class. The MX-3 was built wit the Twin Trapezoidal Link for rear suspension which allows the rear wheels to turn slightly which enhances the easy handling of the vehicle. The MX-3, though quite sporty, is known for its smooth ride but its easy and responsive handling.
