The Mazda5 is a small minivan that provides functionality and reliability for those that require more space than a car or stuck can offer. The first versions of this small minivan were built in Japan and Exported to just Asia and Europe. Later the Mazda5, also known as the Premacy, was sold by Ford in a few markets though it was sold under the names of Ford Ixion or Ford MAV. The second version of the minivan is then assembled and sold worldwide as the Mazda5 and is well received by all those that need something between a large SUV and a car. By March 31, 2005 the Mazda5 has sold more than 285,000 models!
The second generation of the Mazda5 offers better space than the first version. The first version of the Mazda5 was a 2-row passenger vehicle that held up to four or five passengers. The second version is a 3-row passenger vehicle and holds up to six passengers. One feature that has not changed in the new model is the fact that these are true vans with flat flooring and folding or even removable second and third row seating. The middle row of seats in the Mazda5 reclines as well as slides from front to rear. The middle and rear row seats also fold flat for extra cargo room. The Mazda5 has minivan styled doors which makes getting in and out of the Mazda5 easy from all seats in the vehicle.
The newest, 2005 model has been on sale since the summer of 2005 and it is based on the popular Ford C1 platform that it shares with the Mazda3. The wheelbase of the Mazda5 is 108 inches with a length of 177 inches. The engine options are a 1.8 Litre 114 horsepower, 2.0 Litre 148 horsepower, 2.3 Litre 159 horsepower, or a 2.0 Litre Diesel. Each of the options provides a smooth ride, great power, and easy handling.
