Hey Clem... here's a link from another topic on this site about the stubby antenna

http://www.mazdaforum.com/m_3189/mpage_1/key_stubby/tm.htm#3218

I have a stubby antenna... you get almost identical reception with the stubby as you do the long one. Can barely tell the difference. But when you go beside hills, the reception gets a little fuzzy. But then i decided to try the long antenna in the same location and it handle slightly better but not enough to make the situation better.

If you want to see what my antenna looks like... check out my cardomain page

You're right Alamo , the car is great in many ways ..... compared to our beasts ; we are pampered , with still enough speed to rival a mid 90's Stang GT ..... with numbers like these (0-60 in 6.7 , 15.1 - 1/4 mile at 93 mph .... all this with FWD and 50 lbs heavier than my Cobra !!)

Insulate the car more than it already is , though , and will be isolated from the feel of the road as in a luxo. car .... not what Mazda had in mind ..... but compared to the Cobra .... and even more the Fox platform (87-93) they are a lot more comfy all around , and that's just the way I want it .... I'm way far from 60 y.o. yet

You got screwed !!! Lucky lucky you !!! If I put a Kenne-Bell in mine though , then you'll get screwed double time ..... aw man a twin-srew supercharger , tis' the ticket to instant torque .... how much you pump out (hp) ?? .... you get how many additional hp's ??

hmm.. it is your opinion. I was just wondering if there was someone wrong with your car. Joking. I would still take the Mazda 6 over a Mercedes, the 6 handles much better.

You think the 6 handles better than the SLK320 Roadster? You've got to be kidding me? I hope you are!

I'm agreeing with alyssa on this one... the mercedes definitely performs better then the mazda6 in handling. Despite that they are in completely different classes of performance, the mazda6 performs pretty darn good for its class (lower than the mercedes).

I have driven both vehicles before just to show you that I have some understanding of what I experienced when driving them.

-My two favorite things have got to be the sport looks. I started that thread "random compliment". I have gotten so many. I get looks on the highway. I love the headlights. Everything about it is somewhat different from other cars.
-The other is the handling. I dont think it can outhandle the mercedes, but I have never driven it. But for the car, it can outhandle anything in its class. The 6 is known for that.

The one thing I dislike is the cabin noise. I agree with what Alamo said
quote:

-I think they could have done a better job with some of the insulation, to cut down on some of the outside noise that makes it into the cabin. Although the car is sporty in nature and not built to be a luxury car, I think they could have insulated the dash/firewall area better, and between the front wheel wells and the A-Pillar area too.

That sums it up right there. I thought something was wrong with it, I had a grand cherokee before and it was such a nice, smooth, quiet ride. So when I drove the 6 I thought something was the matter, so I brought it to the dealership and they said it was fine. Anyone else bothered by the noise? It isn't that bad, just scared me. Thought something was wrong. I thought the breaking was also adequate.

What are you guys talking about? The 6 is one of the best handling cars around. Are you guys driving the same car I am? I have the 2.3 . The brakes are one of the best of class too!

not even close to the best handling cars on the road...... my brakes suck but they do have 17k miles on them

i have owned over 20 cars and this is prob in the top ten as far as handling goes but not in the top 5 of the ones ive owned and yes i am saying that i have owned 3 trucks that handle better than this car does and they were all stock with stock tires and 4 wheel drive

the car doesnt handle bad but it isnt great either

Thanks mazda guy, I will have to mention the cradle next time I take it in. Can you elaborate on what exactly that is though. I am not familiar with what a cradle is....
Thank again.

hmm. I drove a Mercedes once. It was either a 94 or 95 model year. But honestly, the Mazda has alot of body roll but there is more oversteer in the Mazda. I love that. With the right technique, this car can feel snug in turns where other cars can't even dream of.

Okay, well what type of Mercedes did you drive? I still disagree about the 6 hugging corners. Like I said, it's not shabby with the handling...but it could definitely be improved upon.

well I want to say C class or something like that, I was 14 or 15 years old. I didn't even have a drivers license. Maybe the Mercedes handled slightly better. After having some fun this morning, I really payed close attention. My body goes flying in the turns, but the car has plenty of grip. It does feel somewhat unstable, but I can stay in the gas and it doesn't push much at all. I can only imagine what kind of car the 6 would be if it was built for the Mercedes class. Its a 20,000 car and I love it almost as much as a Corvette. Tweak the handling a little bit, add more insulation to quite the ride and add some more power and this car will on everyone's shopping list. Most cars around 20,000 need alot more improvements then that.
