You stated it right there.  the roads in Germany were built from scratch better than US roads, and they are also kept up in better condition.  So driving at high speeds is a lot safer over there.  Also a good bit of Germany has gone to posted speed limits due to population growth so even over there they are seeing 100mph speeds aren''''''''t the best idea when it comes to safety.  Also note a majority of the world lives with posted speed limits under 100mph so it''''''''s not just a US thing.  My intent on posting was to hopefully deter future 3 owners from going an excessive speed and harming themselves or others.  Good luck in finding what your looking for.

WOW!!!  I LOVE the new sig pic, David!!  Very nice.

You also have to consider that in Germany they don''''t just hand out driver''''s licenses like we do here either.
I can''''t quote it, but about 6 yrs ago R&T magazine did an article on what it takes to get a German drivers license, and it ain''''t easy, and it certainly ain''''t cheap. It''''s expensive and time consuming, so you have to be serious about getting one in the first place.
They are better driver''''s... more attentive and aware than the cell phone talker/texters and stereo blasters that we put up with here.
I don''''t know what I would''''ve done had it cost me $3000 (what I remember them saying it cost in Germany) when I was 16 just to get my driver''''s license, but I think it''''s time we look real hard at the licensing process here in this country.  I have always taken awareness in driving very seriously.

BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You''re telling me.  I failed the SIGN''S TEST!!!!!!  So I didn''t even get to the 2nd part of the test and I was 18!!!!!!

Considering that the hardest part of the driving test for most folks in the US is Parallel Parking, I am surprised that our streets aren''t awash in blood.

However, I will point out that the US has a lot of Wide Open rural interstates where there ain''t much to hit, and perfect for winding it out.  Just look around for the cops, first.

Actually, I didn''t lose any points during my test for parking...I lost points for ''over-aggressive acceleration and cornering.'' Go figure.

I realize that I''m a little off base here as you are all talking about speeding, and the removal of the speed regulator for the mazda 3.

However, this made me think of a photo I snapped the other day... I have a speed3, and did not realize that my Garmin navigation unit kept track of my top speed. It topped me out at 129MPH, I clearly remember slowing down at 130...anyway, there is never any reason to go this fast...

Sorry, I realize I''m a little off topic here, but I thought what better time to share... And yes that was the one and only time I have ever had the speed3 that fast...seriously...It was a controlled environment...

Anyway...back to the talk of responsibility and safe driving practices...
