We''re considering replacing our 1991 Mustang with a 2005 RX-8, but I''m hesitant about how it will handle the New England winters, as the front wheel drive Mustang was a winter nightmare.
If anyone could share their experience and opinion of an RX-8 for the winter, it would be greatly appreciated. I know it''s not a great winter car, but was wondering if it were adequate for a short daily commute and around town.
THANKS

No such thing as a FWD Mustang, especially a Foxbox...what are you on about?

FWD??  Mustang??  Not. (I know VB said it first... only cause he didn''t have to work today.
Mustangs are notorious for being lousy winter cars.  I don''t drive an "8" but would think since torque at the low end is weaker that it would be a better choice, but not the best as you suggest.

Actually, I jost got back from work...I give up my weekends and my "best" years for the restaurant.

The RX-8 would probably be a bit better than the Mustang, but I''m not sure a guy who thinks a Mustang is FWD should drive either...

you give up your best years. try me workign seven days a week lol. anyhow the rx-8 if you put snows will be better (obviously then the mustang my grandmother had one and it was brutal in the winter) as long as you dont drive too fast or go through heavily snowy areas. that car is low so if you hit deep snow you can possibly ruin parts underneath the car (i know from experience 200$ later)  just drive carefully and you should have no problems in the snow. BUT you must buy snow tires. those tires that come with the mazda rx-8 say all season... you shouldnt drive with them in the snow. spend the extra 600- 1K on a good pair as well as rims and your set.
