I have a 2001 MPV that just flipped 100,000 a couple of days ago. My wife said yesterday on her way home from work the Battery Light on the dash came on and smelled what seemed to be electrical smoke. By the time she got home, about 30 minutes later, the light was off and the smell was gone. Well, this morning on here way to work the light came on, no smell, but the van died as she pulled into a gas station. I just replaced the battery about 8 months ago so I don't think it is the battery, I am figuring it is probably the alternator. I am planning on taking it up to an auto parts store to check the battery and alternator, if I can get it started. Is there anything else I should look at as to what may be causing this? Thanks.

My vote would be the alternator as well.
