A friend of mine is eyeing a 2000 miata with 93k miles on it.

I like miata's but am not familar with them.

Are they any trouble spots to look for or potential problems that may end up costing alot to repair.

It will be the first car my friend is buying and its an automatic.
The car looks to be in good condition from the pictures that were posted.

Any suggestions of info would be helpful.

Thanks

i've got a 2001 mx5 (so not sure if this applies).. buuuuuuuuuut, last summer i was on my way home from work and had the AC blasting.. all of a sudden the motor start to hick-up and just shut down.. ran a quick test and got an error saying the cam-angle sensor was f-ed up (yeah.. f-ed up.. technical terms).. after looking around on the interweb, found out another guy had the same problem..

my car had about 45,000+ miles on it, so nothing major.. spent about $100 on a new sensor, took about 2 seconds to pop the old one out and the new one in (the sensor is located towards the back of the valve cover)..

hot weather is starting to creep up again here (in baltimore) so we'll see if it was a one time deal or an annoying problem.. but other than that - THAT is the only problem i've ever had with this car (and i'm sure it's just some random thing that happened.. like the sensor just went bad)..
