Agree, and I have previously pounded the 3\8 (both 6pt and 12pt) on and it slips off .The metal of the bolt is soft which has also made it difficult.

Thanks for the suggestions though, I wish I could report success with them!

yes i agree with the 3/8 theorey because it sounds like rust has shrunk the bolt, remember if all else fails use a damage bolt remover which is designed to tighten up on the bolt as you loosen it you can get a set for about 20 dollars just remember not to use a impact but use a large wrachet or a johnson bar and i garauntee you'll get those bolts out.

yes good reply, a snipe and a socket wrench is a good idea.

You did not mention in you post if you have put a torch on them. Heat will loosen up rust and lock tight.

Ditto that. Let me add after carefully heating the bolt press an ice cube against it for a few seconds. This rapid cooling should make the bolt contract just enough so you can break them loose. The first time I removed the heat shield from the exhaust manifold on my 91 B2600i I just knew those small bolts would twist and break. After getting the motor to normal operating temp I held an ice cube against each bolt. Glad to say I was able to loosen all the bolts. Afterwards applied antiseize to the threads. Good luck.

working with heat gotta be carfull obviously of melting seals and gaskets and such. I dont know how those hubs are put together but know before applying heat.

Exactly right. I thought about adding to the post wrapping a wet rag around the hub to protect it. And to very carefully apply the heat to the head of the bolt only. May want to look at an exploded view of the hub before proceeding.
