So i was driving my 90 mazda MPV on the free way doing about 65 mph all of the sudden hold light flashes and rpm drops to 0 and car loses power about a min later it restarted and i drove it to work. Drove it home from work about 20 miles almost home same thing happens just this time it would not restart 10 hours later it started right up any idea what the problem could be ???? Should I take it to the dealership or could any autorepair place fix this ??

Hey Partner, I too have a 1990 MPV, bought new and have 225K on it. I recommend any good auto mechanic as old as our mpv's are most of the technology is known by most good auto shops. I took my mpv to the Mazda for maintenance for the first 80K miles and they have not seen it since. I have had local auto shops change water pumps, alternator, timing belt, radiator and AMCO did the transmission renewal at 125K. If the engine turns over faster than normal when you crank it, probably timing belt. Best let a trusted mechanic take care of your baby. Good luck and be sure and post on your findings. gw
