ORIGINAL: Damic Nice but remove the airbox and place a K&N filter :) im new to these rotary engines. how much heat do they give off? id rather have a stock air box than a k&n filter sucking up a bunch of hot air.

The engine bays tend to hold a lot of heat. The turbos are right behind the airbox too. Still a lot of people get rid of it. With a bit of work you can adapt the stock box to a very good CAI by cutting opening up the bottom in alignment with the opening between the radiator and frame. You then fab some kind of ducting but it's not too complex. Use a K&N drop in and you have it. This retains all the stock connections and baffles the air pump "mooing" noise. It might not look as cool but there are a lot of advantages to it. Your box has already been modified with a Racing Beat intake. I've heard mixed things about it. There aren't a lot of aftermarket intercoolers that let ou keep both battery and stock box. If the precat is still on the car I'd suggest exchanging it for a downpipe. These cars have two cats and the precat is a very large heatsink right in the engine bay. That alone will help reduce underhood temps. I suspect it's already out of there based on the things already done in the pic. (silicone vac hoses, intake mod, intercooler & pipes, strut brace, boost gague, metal ast) Just remember these cars are not MAF based so when you increase airflow the ECU can only compensate within the parameters that are programmed into it. If you go outside the limits bad things can happen. gary
