I have a 05 Tribute with the integrated 6-cd changer. I want to pull it out to add a FM modulator to the antenna line for my XM radio, but I'm not sure how to remove the unit. It doesn't have the DIN locks like normal Ford radios, so I assume I have to pull the dash trim somehow to get to the head unit???

Any help will be appreciated.

thx/

I have a 05 Tribby. There are trim pieces on the sides of the radio. Just use a flat screwdriver to peel off starting at the bottom of one trim piece. The normal ford DIN locks are underneath, so the rest is business as usual.

You will need 4 of the DIN tools to remove after pulling the little side trim covers.

FYI. I found that the "drawer slide" was soo tight I had to take off the dash facia and use a screwdriver behind the unit to get the thing out.
Not the easiest removal I have ever done, thats for sure.

The DIN removal tool is cheap and you can buy it at any Autozone store. Just get the tools, it will save you from possibly messing something up, or scratching your dash. Not that I would know anything about that...

Bumping this thread as I've ordered the DIN tools and anticipate an interesting attempt to repair the cd changer. My dealer has no interest in getting inside the thing and suggests I just buy a replacement. I probably will buy a new one; but, I know there are discs in there I'd like to get out. If anyone's dealt with this, I'd appreciate any advise.
Thanks
