I doubt, and tried to make clear in my post, that any power losses from not using the recirc hose are extremely minimal, but is overall (imo) a bad idea, but not a detrimental one. The hose and vacuum for the intake actually help to reuse, unspent gasses (blow-by) reducing emissions, keeping the oil cleaner and may actually improve fuel economy a miniscule amount. That's all I meant.
