Hi there. I just bought a 92' Protege DX w/ a manual transmission. Has 213,000 original miles. It was taken care of but a few things have come to my attention.[8|]. When taking off, I heard a whistle sound coming from the engine.[:-].Could this be a vaccum hose??? Also when down shifting, one of the belts make a screatching noise. This also happens when i have the heater on and rear defroster or if it's rainning. Which belt could this be??? I am also wondering why this car is a SOHC but has 16 vavles??? Many other cars that have 16 valves are DOHC. Is this normal??? Thanks[:D]
