an exhaust is'nt goin to increase your power that much it's just going to give you that sound, and you are going to also need to buy a high flow cat so it sounds right, just depending on how much money you want to spend you can get more power out of cams than you would and exhaust.

2.0Mazda08 -> RE: Exhuast help (3/23/2008 1:00:32 PM)

thats if you can find cams for our cars.....what did you put in it to make it weigh more? u'll prob gain 10hp from an exhaust and thats if its a good one. U'll gain a lot more from changing headers.
Custom exhaust is the best way to go but it seems that you are new to all this so the person at the shop might try to rip you off and make it seem like you bought gold from him at a excellent price. nice link virgin.

well it all depends on how much power you want to get out of it, and what you are going to do with the power. is it for street or strip?

if it is for strip, then i would look into a complete rebuild, bore the block out bigger, more agresive cams, turbo, port the head and intake, header and full exsahust, cold air intake, bigger injectors...... another words.... build it and build it big and bad.!![:-][:)]

if it is for street, then i would look at coldair intake, header and exhaust, turbo.....

basicly look at what the main use of the car would be, and how much you want to spend...... and then go from there

if its a speed3 just take off a couple resonators... There are 3 total, i took 2 off and it sounds rediculas...

What is a header and how much does one typically cost and what are the pros cons gains  and losses etc?
Also what would a good exhaust cost from a nice company, one that is going to improve performance and not really harm the fuel eccon. If that is at all possibile.
And also what is a high flow cat? Price etc?
I am relitivly new at performance tunning and am eager to learn. Thanks much

virgin1 -> RE: Exhuast help (8/9/2008 1:30:38 PM)

I''m sure I won''t be able to post a very complete answer. A header takes the place of the restrictive exhaust manifold and often the cat conv. Cost = $200 - $600.

larryjay57 -> RE: Exhuast help (8/9/2008 5:35:27 PM)

And for that 200-600 you get hp gain, is that it then or is it more for sound and apperence?
