Well Im not sure where you are but our shop is in Fort Worth Texas and if your car is a 82 which Im guessing it is from your name ...We charge $450.00 parts and labor to replace a clutch.

This may be an number of problems. It could be hydraulic...I would try bleeding your clutch slave cylinder first, because it is the cheapest and easiest one to do. You might also have a problem with the actual clutch or associated parts. I am having clutch problems myself with my 93, I found that i had a broken clutch release fork. I dont know about the second gen's, but the 3rd gen has a inspection window on the bell housing where you can actually look in and see the clutch release fork, bearing, and the clutch cover. I would take a peek in here (that is if the 2nd gen has one). Check the clutch fork for any cracks or anything, and while you are looking in there have someone press the clutch to make sure that it is disengaging properly. You should be able to see the clutch fork pull the release bearing.

And when I say 2nd gen, I do of course mean 1st gen. :-P
