I had a CAI on my accord which happaned to be 3 inches of the ground, I drove through huge puddles a number of times and never once had a problem, I just left the water guard on the underside of my car on and there was never a problem

No. Mazdaspeed is Mazda's performance division that makes (distributes, really) add-on/bolt-on performance parts for many of the cars it produces.
The Mazdaspeed CAI is actually the same and is manufactured by AEM the choice I made, though I found an MS for less $$$ than the AEM would've cost... both brand new.
I did have some CEL issues initially, but discovered that it was actually a dirty MAF sensor.  I cleaned the MAF and have had no further issues in over 3K miles.

Interesting...yeah I've heard the puddle fears are somewhat of a myth in the sense they are exaggerated most of the time.  Good to know... Thanks.

I suppose you could cut the tubing and install the filter further up.  I don''t know what affect that will have on it and the tubing will have no support, unless you design something for it.

i will try to  and shed light on this matter lol

i installed a full exhaust and a CAI weeks after i bought my 3.
no problems til about 19k then the MAF sensor got all screwy on me. Took it to the dealership and they replaced it. They just told me to watch what i install. So im assuming its covered under the "right" circumstances if you dont have hardasses at the local mazda dealership

First, you''ll have to find a used one. Mazda has pulled them away from the dealers and told them not to sell/install. Yes, several people have converted it to the SRI, apparently without too much trouble.

I am also planning on installing an AEM CAI on my M6. I am worried about hydro-locking, the one I am using has no adaptable bypass. Is this acctually that common for a daylie driver. If not what about heavy snow if it were parked and 10" of snow fell will it be in a position to be clogged and potentially cause damage?
