I hate to be the one to break the bad news, but i hate being the one to find out first hand more.

IF YOU HAVE A MPV YEARS 99 TO 2005 AND HAVE A REOCURRING MISFIRE, ROUGH IDLE, SPUTTERING, BUCKING STOP THROWING COIL PACKS AND SPARK PLUGS AT IT! STOP THROWING YOUR MONEY AT IT!!!

After 4 weeks, 6 shops, and over $3000.00 I finaly found out what was wrong with my MPV that had a reocurring mis fire in cylinder 3. AT 74,000 MILES MY VAN HAS NO CYLINDER COMPRESSION IN  3!!!!

YES replacing certain componants of the vehicle will cure the problem but only temporarly. and then 6 months to year later is not sooner it will come back.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT SOONER OR LATER YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO FIX IT.

SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOU? IT MEANS YOUR MOTOR IS PRETTY MUCH JUNK AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

ANOTHER PROBLEM, ALUMINUM BLOCKS WITH NO COMPRESSION ARE EASIER AND CHEAPER TO REPLACE THEN REBUILD!

IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THE MPV FORUM THE MIS FIRE, ROUGH IDLE, SPUTTERING, BUCKING, ISSUE IS ONE OF THE MOST TALKED ABOUT SUBJECTS WITH THIS VAN.

Loss of compression may have been the problem with yours, but I wouldn't say that could be the only cause.  Our dealer was replacing plug wires but not plugs for 2 1/2 years on our 2000 MPV.  Another shop did both, resolving most of the problem.  Also, the duct between the air flow meter and the intake manifold had a split way underneath that was not visible.  That misfire problem has now been resolved for 6 months and 8000 miles.  Running great with 136k.
