ok, so my 1992 mx-6 was running fine until recently the temperature gauge started reading hot after about 5 mins of driving. Since I only use my car for commuting (about a 5 min commute) i was kinda letting it go (though i just bought a new thermostat thinking that it might help...didn't get a chance to install it though), when the car started taching (is that a word?) really high, no matter if I was idling or driving, the rpms were always around 2,500 unless i was shifting, i figured this was somehow related to the near-overheating and hoped that the thermostat change out would help, but then a couple day ago, before i could do the install, i went out to my car after work and it wouldn't start, i turn the key and it makes a momentary sound like it's going to start and then just dies with a slight clicking noise if i leave the key in the start position, it doesn't seem to be an electrical problem as the lights work and don't dim or anything, it just won't start....my thinking is that this is the starter and/or solenoid being shot...question is, do you all think that's correct? i'm trying to fix this myself and don't want to order a new starter if it could it be something else that i can't fix myself...and assuming it is, how hard is replacing the starter in one of these suckers? thanks!
