I have a 2000 Mazda MPV that has in the last two years been experiencing idling issues when I come to a stop. The vehicle begins to shake as the engine becomes idle during the winter months. I was told last year that the plug wiring needed replacment which I did. The problem stopped. Then again this winter, the problem reappeared and was told that it was a Mass air flow sensor. A few days after I replaced this piece, I noticed a slight shake again when sitting at stop at a light. It is not constant as warmer temperatures have arrived. I have seen some older posts indicating exhaust manifold issues. Could anyone elaborate further what the true cause may be and how I might go about fixing it for good. Thanks,

qpike, I am having the same problem. I cleaned my mass air flow sensor and it seems to have stopped. I changed plugs and wires and coil pack over a year and a half ago. Cleaned Idle air control valve. Seems to have gone away but there sounds like a very slight sputter from the tailpipe. I do have a small oil leak that I can't find where it's coming from. None on the driveway and there is always a bead hanging from the oil drain plug. I pulled codes P0171, P0174, P0300 and P0421. I hope you get a quick reply as we both need help.

you oil leak might be the oil pan gasket. I started to notice that late last year, and had the dealer checked and confirmed. Will look into replacing the gasket soon. Mine is 2000 model, has 92000 miles. the rough idle could also be caused by the intake valve gasket leak. I had that last winter.

wineye, Thanks for the reply. I will check what you posted. I recently put some engine oil stop leak in and now my leak seems to be worse.
