Smoothest, Quietest Replacement Tires for M5? - 1/7/2008 8:23:21 AM    Mazda5GvilleSC   Posts: 18 Joined: 1/7/2008 From: Greenville, SC USA Status: offline My tires will need replaced this year, and I'm looking for something that may ride a little smoother/quieter than the OEM Toyo's.  I have the US-spec '06 Touring model.  I realize that these are low-profile tires, but wondering if anyone has found a tire that can quiet down some of the road noise. The difference was barely noticeable. They have, however, lasted far better than the original Dunlops and that is without any geometry adjustments. There is no tyre that will turn the 5 into a quiet car, concentrate on price and longevity. Didn't mention getting new wheels, but I can't find the stock wheel size (205/50 VR17) online for this tire. Has anyone else some experience with this tire, preferably on a Mazda5?? _____________________________ I love my Mazda5! RE: Smoothest, Quietest Replacement Tires for M5? - 2/19/2008 3:20:40 AM    Mozart   Posts: 7 Joined: 4/8/2007 Status: offline I've just replaced two tyres on my '05 Sport (17" wheels).  I went for Japanese Dunlop SP 2050 same as original equipment.  It was stressed to me by my dealer and others that the tyres must be "reinforced" or "XL (extra load).  Agree with SimonD - as far as I can tell by reading reviews, there's not a huge difference in noise between any of them. RE: Smoothest, Quietest Replacement Tires for M5? - 2/20/2008 11:19:11 AM    Mozart   Posts: 7 Joined: 4/8/2007 Status: offline I had to think on my feet, Dave when the local Kwik-fit surprised me by having the original Dunlops 2050's in stock.  I had gone in with the intention of buying something else but not everything they were offering me was "reinforced".  I liked the fact that they look the same with the wheel protection bead etc. I had also just left the local dealer and the 2008 model was sitting in the showroom on the same tyres. I've not actually had any tyre wear problems on my 2005 Sport.  They are maintained at the full load pressures as there is usually four of us aboard. (in reply to Dads_Taxi) Post #: 9
