I have a 2003 Protege and the battery is on its last legs (specific gravity is lower in one cell compared to the others). I live near Sacramento CA. It doesn't get very cold in the winter, but can get very hot (110ºF+) in summer. Also, I sometimes take it to Death Valley in the summer where it gets over 120ºF. Any battery recommendations for hot climates? I've been considering a Sears Diehard Gold South or an Exide Marathon or Nascar Extreme. Exide tested these in taxis in Phoenix and Las Vegas, so that seems like it might be a good choice. Also, I like flooded with caps, as I usually check the electrolyte level once a year, even though these batteries don't require much water.
