Thats a pretty full on diagnosis. Will have a check on it. It is only very random and seldomly happens, but like you say very annoying when people think you are revving it like a pimped out wannabe driving a souped up 'Gremlin' (??!!??) :)

I would look for weak of faulty vacuum hoses first.  Cheap/easy to fix, but could be split like mine was or pin-holed and cause an intermittent problem as you describe.
