They do free checks because 95 and later are all OBD2 compatible so the test port and codes are all the same from car to car. Older cars all have their own unique test ports, codes, and procedures. I am assuming that your CEL is on? You can retrieve your own codes quite easily. On the underside of the cover for your diagnoisis connector is a diagram of the connector with each pin labled. Use a jumper wire to connect between the negative battery cable and the pin labled "TEN". Turn your key on but not so it is running and the CEL should come on and then start flashing a one or two digit code. If only a one digit code, say a code 8, then the light will flash 8 times, pause and then repeat. If a two digit code, the the first digit will be long flashes and second will be shorter duration flashes. ie code 34 would be 3 long flashes followed by 4 short, pause, and then repeat. Try that and see what code you come up with. [image]local://upfiles/1377/6DC3D6A1155846339D7AD7F8B20076A1.jpg[/image]
