 Hey everyone
I am really thinking about getting a Mazda 3 5door, I have been looking at them for awhile now, I might even go test drive one today make sure I fit, I am 6"3' bout 210lbs so I hope I will have enough leg room.  I am trying to decide There really only seems to be a differnce of a Turbo, cold air intake in the Mazda 3speed, So lets say I was to buy a Mazda 3 5door not the Speed, would I be able to add the turbo and cold air at a resonble price???

Thanks all

Simple answer... NO!!  If you want turbo, buy a Speed.
AM turbos are $4K, and that's before installation and setup.

The Speed3 is also a little wider, has a Limited slip differential, slightly lower suspension, much nicer seats, etc.

The Speed3 is one hell of a value for what you get, but I don't think you should expect great gas mileage out of it.  If acceleration/performance is more important than MPG, go with the Speed.

I think I am more worried about gas milage then anything, But then again anything is better then what iam getting now I do about 66miles a day M-F and iam actually spending bout 70bucks a week in gas on my truck.  But I did test drive a Mzda 3 yesterday, it was nice i really liked it, think I am just going to go with it, I dont really need the turbo, and neither does my insurance HAHA.  Right now all I have to do is wait for the dealership to find me one in the color i want and with a sunroof,  hoping for Blue or the Dark Grey one

FWIW....I had a 3i sedan and averaged 28/29 mpg (had the 2.0L 5-speed manual) and I got 34/35 a few times on highway only trips, from what I've seen, the 2.3L is typically another 2-3mpg below that.

It's only 10 hp less for the i vs the s model

Isn't the real difference in the torque numbers though? I expect the 3s to really move...not that the 3i is a slouch.

I purchased a 3i sedan 2.0 5-spd, roughly 2 months ago, and have gotten anywhere between 38 & 30 mpg.
