I'm new to Mazda forum,I have just bought a 2007 Mazda3 5door sport
and as I'm driving,I have air coming out of defrost vent when fan control dial is turned off and mode selector dial is set to floor or dashboard vent
Is this normal or should I have no outside air coming in.
This really bugs me as it tends to dry my eyes out the way the air will
follow path of windshield I know I could turn on fan and select dashboard vent but sometimes I don't need fan on.
Thanks in advance for any help or comments

First of all, Congrats on the new ride! I'm sure you'll like it as much as we all do.

It's pretty typical in newer cars to have some air movement when the ignition is turned on.  It help the fan from freezing up due to a lack of useage, so it will run at a very low/slow speed. I haven't noticed this situation in mine, or perhaps it just doesn't bother me.  I'm not sure which it is.

Have you tried setting the switch to recycled air? Also keep in mind that any setting from the footwell setting clockwise to the right (full defrost) always turns on the A/C though the lighted switch will not indicate that.

I've noticed this, too.  In my car, the volume of air is pretty small.  For safety's sake, it isn't a bad idea to have a little air coming out of the defrost vent, to help keep moisture away from the windshield (and thus prevent fogging).

If in the case of your car, the volume of air is enough to dry your eyes out, I wonder if it could be adjusted by the dealer.
