Sprint57 -> 2001 2.3 valve lifters- solid or hydraulic (11/18/2007 1:00:01 PM)

I have a 2001 Millenia S (2.3 supercharged, 122,000 miles) that has a ticking noise at start up. Does this engine have hydraulic lifters or solids like the earlier cars. Do the solids have shims on the top of the lifter like VW -Audi or under the follower like Alfa Romeo which requires cam removal? Also have smoke on startup but car runs good. Am thinking it's the supercharger. This may be a good time to sell this car.
