95 2.5 stalling issues

soccercoach -> 95 2.5 stalling issues (11/8/2007 8:27:32 AM)

Recently purchased 95 Millenia 2.5L. Had stalling issues at stoplights (while in Drive only) and while driving, but would always start right back up. Changed fuel filter and now the stalling at stoplight issue is resolved however it just stalled again while driving. Again, it started right back up. Any idea what to check next?? Wondering if it could be the fuel pump??? Any help is appreciated-thanks!

You may need to clean out the throttle body.................

Having same problem with my 95. Have traced it down to a weak ignition coil. It will run at idle and at slow speeds, but when pulling, will pop, spit and spew. The fire from each plug is weak, which indicates a weak coil. I'll try it this week and let you know.

What about the wear and tear on the cap and rotor? That could induce weak spark and if some of the connections in the cap are worn enough they wont contact and wont fire that cylinder every time which would explain your pop, spit, and spew maybe.

The rotor could cause a similar problem, but in my case, changing the coil did the trick. The car has never missed again.

My car is stalling as well but only at idle and it would be a sudden stall no weak idle or anything like that the car would just shut off...could a bad egr gone bad make a car stall?

I would have a scanner put on it and see if a tps (throttle position sensor) code comes up. That is one of the likely culprits.
