getting misfires and car jerking. jim a broke college kid and trying to fix myself. can any help by letting me know what might cause this????? please help thanks

When was the last time you changed Plugs, coil packs and fuel filter???

Is it throwing any codes???

Those are the places to start

i got a tune upo thinking that it would fix the problem. it isnt as severe and doesnt do it as often but on longer drives it will kick in. threw up misfire code. also threw up fuel level sensor a circuit low imput. i dont know what that means in english. totaly car iliterate

Have the fuel filter changed.  From there if you still have the problem, look at the fuel pump.  Does it only do it when the tank is close to empty???   If so that means the fuel pump may be heating up.

doesnt care if its empty or full. just does it violently. gonna get the fuel pump changed. any idea where it is at in this car 2003 protege 5???

Do the fuel filter before you touch the pump.  It is much cheaper, and you need to do it anyway if you haven't done it in the last 24,000 miles.
