+1... they only trying to 1up the mazda3 by placing that damn intercooler!!! without it, it looks like the 2008 accord..and thats pretty low.

the corolla has been competing with mazda. bsck when they had the protege the corolla did better but ever since the mazda3 they have had some awesome success and the corolla sales have been going down. its because the mazda3 is soo much nicer and it is around the same price. the highest end corolla doesnt looking as good as the mazda3.

Toyota it seems is never going to be on the leading edge, part of the burden that comes with wanting to sell a massive volume ... you have to make sure no one it turned off by your style, as much as you are interested in turning people on.
What jumps to my mind in looking at the photos, is the new Mitsubishi Lancer. Seems everybody is converging toward the same basic look. Kind of annoys me, that in a couple years, my M3 will be less distinctive.

yea that lancer looks soo different. i hate the new one compared to the older one. the older one was soo sexy i loved that car sooo much :D

That's exactly how I felt, here and there on the new corolla styling, you see the imprints of the mazda3. it's a huge improvement from previous/exisiting corolla's which have bland styling like a piece of bread being squeezed upward. I remembered my test drive of the corolla, turning out from deader to the highway, wanted to test accel, pushed the gas, engine roared, car didn't respond. the quality of toyota cars is sliding as well, they had better built cars in the eighties.

actually i gotta disagree that it resembles the lancer. the lancer more closely resembles the new lexus is250. the corolla looks more like a baby camry to me. the lancer has sharp edges, looks more boxy than the corolla.

The car looks like a small Camry, and the XRS' front looks like a civic with a bigger grille. The inside is as plain as a cracker, and to give the Corolla any kind of distinction you have to compare it to a hyundai elantra or kia rio. The Corolla is nothing compared to the 3.
