What kind of diffrence does it make if I where to use a higher Octane? I think what I use is regular unleaded 87?

I mean is that bad for my kind of car? 92 323?

I have heared that you get a little bit better MPG and better horse power is this true?

It's not bad using 87, but if your car has high compression pistons,advanced timing or forced induction 87 octane isn't a good idea to use. because the pistons will start pinging and the motor won't last very long.

The car you are driving does not need higher than 87 octane. The car was designed to run 87 gas. You can put 89 or higher which will not hurt it, but the higher price will cancel out any increase in MPG. Even if you were able to achieve 1 more mile per gallon, the cost would outweigh the benefit.

Yeah true I figured that. Would there be any more power gained? I know it wouldn't be enough to weigh it out. I was wondering though.

I mean what is the diffrence in the Octane? I know some faster cars use it becuase of the higher compression and all that. I know my car does just fine use 87 or 86 what ever it is.

So does that mean that some gas staions the regular is a little higher in Octane than some others?

the higher your octane, the slower your fire rate will be. I believe that is correct. The slower your fire rate, the less pinging noise will occur when the engine is on. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Ok it does thanks Bkey71 that answered pretty much all of my questions.

Was just wondering. I know there are a lot of people who know more than I do and I just like to pick there brain for a while.
