I know this is ridiculous and people are going to tell me i should spend my money elsewhere but everytime i honk my horn, and i have someone in the car, they tell me my horn sounds wimpy and gay. I noticed this when i first bought the car but never paid any mind to it. I just wanted to know if there was an aftermarket mazda horn that sounded more aggressive. Any input is much appreciated. thanks.

The train horn thing is funny, but to answer the orginal question....I thought the exact same thing!! Hahaha. After reading hundreds of reviews online, I have never seen anyone else mention it...but when I took it for a test drive, I thought the horn sounded kinda..weak. Almost as if it was saying "Hi guys! My names theodore! Excuse me please,  I am on a journey to candy land and I must make it to tea time by noon!"
I'm pretty sure all compact cars have a wimpy horn.
My solution: Instead of blowing your horn to get people out of the way, shout out of your window and give people the finger. This will no doubt earn back the respect of your friends! Good luck!

either that or get a transport truck horn  that would be pretty awesome. but yea i noticed that it is a wimpy sounding horn. but honestly what does it matter as long as it gives the message you want. in fact my friends dont think its wimpy... but then again my friends drive civics escorts and cavaliers.

I don't get to drive my wifes (and now 16yr. old daughter thinks she owns it) Mazda 3 much, but I do enjoy driving it when I get a chance. I honked the horn the other day and actually felt embarrased. What a silly sounding chirp.
The car is very sporty looking..6000 miles, Flint Mica black..fog lights, 5spd auto, 18 " wheels, sport touring model, moon roof, 2.3 litre engine. pretty snappy for what it is. Loves to be opened up on the highway and holds the road incredibly!! Very impressive sight but such a corny horn.
Still glad I bought the car!

There are several common replacement for the Mazda 3 horn.  The ones that come to mind are:

-Fiamm Freeway Blasters ~$30
-Hella Supertones ~$50
-Wolo dual tones ~$30
-Stebel nautilus ~$50

I personally have the Fiamm horns.  I replaced my horns after about six months of not being able to take it anymore.  It was a slightly annoying install because I kept them in the stock location and had to jury rig the mounting brackets to hold both horns.  Also because I didn't have jackstands at the time and I had to squeeze my head under the bumper in my driveway. ;)  Both the Fiamms and the wolos are trumpet style, whereas the hellas are disc style.  All of them sound much louder and far more robust with a full "horn" sound.  The stebel is a compact dual tone airhorn (the size of two cans of redbull) and sounds fantastic.  If I were doing it again I'd probably put that in.

All you need to install is the horns, a little bit of wire, a few blade crimp connectors, a screwdriver and a wire splicer/crimper tool.  Let me know if you have any questions about installing, etc.

Thanks for the ideas...I'll check them out!! I just viewed the train horn video posted earlier and I'm still laughing!! I am doing research right now on obtaining one of those. And I thought my Harley pipes were obnoxious...They are nothing compared to the sweet sound of a train blast.

Yes the Mazda horn is better than a meep meep. I don't blow the horn very often but when I do I'd like it to mean something rather than getting curious looks and giggles from the folks I'm blowing it at. The train horn would satisfy my needs quite well but there is an issue of dealing with my wants and my needs. Hard to justify the big horns. May have to go with ICSPOTS advice.
