Ended up being the coils + bad ignition wires. Car no longer sounds like a lawn mower and runs much better.

Still getting a CEL though. Diagnostic kicked out a PO-421 reading, low cat efficiency. I''''''''m having a hard time finding a pre-cat that I can order online for the Protege ES 2.0L. Can the CEL problem possibly be resolved if I just get a header? I was looking at this...
