Hi all, I am working on an 01 Miata, and when the engine compartment gets hot the thing dies, it tripped a code to replace the camshaft sensor, i did that and i am still having the same problem. It is not tripping a new code. If anyone has any ideas, i could sure use the help. Thanks

Not enough info really,recheck for codes/pending codes. You need to find out what it is losing,spark/fuel pressure.

I'm having the same issue, if you find out what is causing your problem could u let me know please. I'll post again when i get some new info.

After talking with some mechanics and replacing my camshaft position sensor. It seems like the problem is gone. So my advice is to replace the camshaft positions sensor which cost me $90.

Check for a blocked gas filter at the inlet side of the carburetor. If this happens while driving and the outside air is over 90, could be your fuel system is developing a vapor lock usually from the fuel pump. Half of a grapefruit skin over top of the fuel pump can help. Also asbestos wrap or aluminum foil an be used on the fuel line between the the pump and the carburetor. Also if this happens when the A/C is in use, cut of the A/C and see what happens.

Check the ignition coils. Drifter28, newer cars do not have carbs.

Oh, sorry I didnt realize that hes talking about 01 Miata....its all fuel injected is the standard nowadays. My bad...but still enjoy when a car billows all the smoke when it starts.
