Do any of you in the USA that have the nav. system have your headlights on auto during the day?
Mine are not on and if I turn the switch to on the nav. system dims and if wearing sunglasses you can barely see the display. I tell the system to go to daylight mode and it repeats the command but nothing happens.
Is this normal?
I would like the headlights on during the day similar to most of the new cars.

I don't have the nav so I could not say.

Hopefully someone with one will reply soon

So I just got a 2008 Mazda CX-7 AWD w/ Tech package, and that was one of the first things I noticed is that when you turn on the headlights during the day, the nav and clock go dim to the point that you really can't seem them with sunglasses on. Has anyone tried to contact the Mazda service folks to see if there is a workaround, or has anyone found a way to get around this? I tried looking in the manual and playing with the brightness/contrast, but that didn't help.

Before I bought this, the 2007 Murano that I was driving had the option on the navigation setup to go from Auto to Day or Night, and changing it from Auto to Day kept the navigation screen brightly lit regardless of the time of day or headlights on or off.

I don't have the nav system, but my clock and audio display dim when the lights are turned on.  To get around this push the knob that controls the brightness, and it should kick it back up to bright.  At least it does on mine.
