1. does it play mp3's?
2. when does the turbo kick in, at a certian mph? if you drive under speeds without turbo will that kill the gas?
3. whats the difference between a turbo engine and V6?

1. There are 3 CD players available for the CX7.  1 is a single disk, 1 is a 6 disk changer but only plays music cd (what I have) and 1 is a 6 disk cd that will play MP3 disks.  Be sure you get the one that will play mp3s.

2. Turbo kicks in at 2500 rpm.  Really not much turbo lag.  But this car is throttle by wire and the computer restricts throttle and power at lower rpms in lower gears.  Before reflash update this was very marked.  Not so much with reflash.  If you keep rpms over 2500 you will burn more fuel as your 2.3 liter becomes effectively a much bigger engine requiring more fuel. 

3. Without turbo you get mileage of 2.3 liter engine, with turbo kicked in you get power of much bigger engine.  Turbo engines must be allowed to idle when you get to a destination and you must wait idling for a few minutes to allow turbo to slow down and cool down which you do not have to do with a  normally asperated engine.  Turbo add a bigger intercooler, cool air intake and good exhaust and you are looking at a 50 rwhp increase something you cannot do with a V6.  Less low end torque but good midrange and top end power from a much smaller engine.

Not to mention that the V6 is the Ford Duratec engine, while the 2.3 inline 4 is not from Ford! Actually, I haven't yet found out just who makes the 4-cylinder engine, Mazda themselves?

The MZR engine is a Mazda designed and built engine.  it is not a Ford.

This basic engine is used in the other Mazdas, such as the Mazda 3 or Mazda 6 etc.

Turbos Kick in at a certain rpm because they are in affect a centrifical air pump driven off exhaust gas turbine.  It requires a certain amount of exhaust gas volume/speed to spin the turbo fast enough to start boosting the intake manifold pressure above atmospheric pressure.  This speed varies depending on the size of the turbo, size of the engine, size of the exhaust system and its back pressure, size and shape of the intercooler if one is fitted and the size, shape and length of the intake track from air cleaner to intake port.  Once the turbo exceeds a certain rpm it boosts up the intake pressure and this effectively makes your engine larger as more air is now moving through it per  cylinder cycle.

Turbo engine gets its intake track pressurized increasing the volume of air passing through the engine.  Engines are air pumps. all things equal if an engine can process more air it will make more power.  The up side of the turbo is that when rpms are below the critical point it is not boosting the engines power and now you have a smaller engine which can provide better mileage, less weight, smaller size power plant without hurting longivity.  Wiith a turbo you can change the engines power easily by changing parts to the turbo, intake and exhaust system which can in some extreme cases double the power over stock.  With a V6 you have what you have the boost from exhaust or CAI changes will be less than those of the turbo.  Larger intercoolers, cold air intakes CAI, free flowing exhausts, better BOVs etc are things that can add 50+hp.  But when you run along at 2,500 rpm or less you are using less fuel/air to run along.

The V6 is usually larger in displacement and tends to have more initial off idle torque/power.  There is usually no peak hit of power, just a steady pull.  You have most of your power right away without any lag. You do not have to idle your car after you reach your destination.  You usually do not need Super Fuel and they run on plain old regular gas.
