In the process of getting a Mazda 1.8 TS2. It comes with a single CD player. Is it straight forward to add a multi changer? Is there a lead in the luggage compartment? On the fascia below the cd player there is a rectangular plastic. Could you be able to take it out and fit a cassette/radio player? The thing is my current car has an aftermarket sony unit with a 10 cd changer unit in the boot. Was hoping to use at least the cd changer unit in the mazda. Thanks in advance for the replies

The radio unit in Mazdas is modular. I can only speak authoratively for the Mazda 2 but I believe that the unit itself is the same and only the fascia pieces differ. If you remove the whole unit, the CD changer fits into the main unit. I don't think that you replace the blanking plate with the CD changer as it loads one at a time through the single CD slot - the plastic blanking plate is removed for cassette or MD only. Presumably, with the appropriate loom adaptor you could fit an external CD changer and connect it to the socket on the back of the uinit. If you have the CD changer fitted, you cannot use an iPod (as it uses the CD changer socket) but you can have cassette/MD.
