Thought I would start a new topic for this rather than add to the ever growing tyre wear topic I started some time ago. Anyway, I duly had all 4 tyres replaced in February and had the alignment fix of 2mm toe-in on all 4 wheels to cure the inner tread wear. My dealer couldn't source Dunlops so I have ended up with equivalent Continental ContiSport Contacts. I have now done 6000 miles on these tyres and low and behold the b*****y things are wearing on the outside (particularly the fronts) - a symptom of too much toe-in! Tread depth measurements are 3mm outside edge, 7mm inside edge on the fronts. Anyone else finding a similar problem with having the toe-in fix? I give up with the Mazda 5. Good car in parts (especially sliding rear doors) but the tyre wear and heavy fuel consumption (30mpg: 2L '06 petrol Sport - diesel doesn't seem much better to warrant additional purchase cost from reading an earlier thread) I cannot live with any longer. Will look to get rid of in August and it won't be a Mazda that I will be buying And yes, I suffer from paint chipping and scratching mentioned in other threads. I also have a creaking clutch pedal and squeaking front seat belt which drive me mad as well. Other than that everything is fine!

Greetings all, I am really pleased to announce, as one of the first to complain about tyre wear on my Mazda 5 to Mazda. They have come up trumps and sorted out the problem once and for all. I have covered in excess of 5000 miles on my latest set of tyres and they are wearing evenly front and rear. Hope that you can get your cars sorted quicker than I did... Seasons Greetings to you all... Nig

Hi Nig, Merry Christmas, to save me plodding through all of your posts, could you remind us please, what did they actually do to your car to solve the uneven wear? Mine seems to be good at the front now, but the rears are still wearing. Only thing different is Bridgestone tyres on the front. Still Dunlops on the rear. All the best to all our readers!!, Dave

To be honest, I don't know the exact changes they made, other than they realigned the geometry on the rear of the car. I have no measurements before or after, but my dealer said that the settings were passed onto MMUK, who would be monitoring progress. I am sure that MMUK will have passed any relevant info onto the dealers who in turn should be able to fix everyones problems. Nig
