Ok, so I just bought a '99 Milly, 2.3L supercharged, and I have a few concerns. Maybe someone can help me out...

So I notice that when I drive, my RPMs wind up really high, and hesitate before dropping gears. It will get up to 5500+ and hang there before it drops. Are the RPMs supposed to be around 3600 at only 70mph?  Is this a common/serious problem? And on that note, it seems to only winds up and drops gears twice. Does that mean my tranny is missing a gear? Or do I only have 3 gears? Someone please help me out. Any help is appreciated!
