i did this the other day as well, and it worked easily on my 3i touring.

i think the only thing wrong with your listing of the procedure is you have to hold AM/FM & cd buttons before, not after, turning the key to acc.

now, if there was only a button combo that would convert my 2.0 engine to a 2.3............

Well mine works now!  Mine had to be held before turning the car to ACC.  DIS ON appears, turn car off, turn car back on and SET scrolls through:
Current MPG
AVG MPG
Miles remaining
AVG MPH

Hit CLOCK and it goes back to the clock.  When SET is hit again it returns to previous viewed information.

Thanks

Hey
cool, I just held down the amfm and cd for a few seconds and it worked.

is there anyway to make the rest of the stuff work. I can see on the right side of the display there is cooling stuff for the fan, rear defroster, etc...
they wire all the models the same. they just dont have everything in the 3i, as the top of the line. so there should be a way to activate the other modes. has anyone played around with this??/

example, My 3i has a clove box light that doesnt light. I'll bet if I pull the glove box out the wiring is there and If i get the light from the dealer it will plug right in.

All models after 2006 (2006/2007,) I believe. It will not work on an '04, that I can assure you.
The 3i guys ('n' gals of course) on up are able to get it to work.  In the States, the 3i is a base model.

I have an 06 mazda 3 GT... All you have to do is hit the info button and it gives you all of those readings.

You said it.  You own an '06 GT.  They come with this info system built in, or shall I say activated.  Earlier and lesser models don't.
