Hello,
My 2001 Mazda tribute is stuck in reverse. I can’t shift it to any of the other gears. it felt like something got loose on the shifting stick. Any ideas?

Try checking and see if the shift cables are still attached to the transmission. Should be two of them. One transfers the forward/back movement of the shifter and other transfers side to side motion. The are both attached just below the area of the brake master cylinder.

I solved the problem thanks to "babyhuey", it was the shift cable that came off from the lever ballstud. I would just need to purchase a "C" clip to hold it down.... thanks a t/llion.
