ok currently i'm a angry civic driver. i am thinking about getting a miata. looking at 99. are these cars reliable? i would have to i drive more then the avg driver. and would like to feel a little sporty. so i would like your reviews. does it drive nice? is there enough power? is there trunk space for anything? and what is it that made you buy one?

one thing you need to ask is to yourself, why do I want one? Get one if you like handling without a punishing ride. If you like the confidence of the best selling convertible ever. Quit asking advice from a forum and do the research yourself. 1. drive it. 2. check insurance. 3. don't worry too much about miles do to the car ages real well. 4. If you buy an automatic your not getting the point of this car. 5. look up the aftermarket sites like fllyin' miata and moss motorsports etc. We are so passionate about these cars because they treat us so well. message me with other thoughts.

We have 2 Civics and 2 CRVs and just purchased a Miata and LOVE it. We bought it to drive and enjoy driving, to have fun. I wrecked my motorcycle Jan. 1 and we miss getting out on the open road and just enjoying the ride, but being alergic to asphalt (as we found out) this really fits the bill.

We did the research and it get good gas milage, had teriffic reviews and rating in Consumer Reports. We just found one for sale at our local Mazda dealer and took it for a test drive. Bought it the next day.

It is personal preference, you can't ask others as they'll tell you what they want (like a minivan or Hummer), we wanted a fun little convertable roadster. We've earned it

If you're looking for unbiased opinions, you probably won't find any here.
They're great cars. Very reliable, comfortable, and more fun than should be legal.
The trunk is pretty big for the size of the car, but it's not huge. It's probably only about 1/2 dead body sized. I'm a college student and when I go skiing on weekends, it's a tight fit to get my stuff and my gf's stuff in the trunk and still have room to sit.
Enough power is a very subjective question. There is enough power for it to be fun, but not so much that you can't wind the car out on public roads. Much more power and it would be illegal to put your foot to the floor.

Just brought mine home last night and thank goodness the dealership was a distance from my house....that gave me some time to enjoy it with the top down. The car is solid and very well built and of course a lot of fun to drive. Being middle age I did opt for the automatic but in my opinion it is just as fun as shifting. Would highly recommend to anyone considering one.

Miatas are very reliable, and that's just fact, not biased opinion. If you are using the car as a daily driver, you need to ask yourself if you want to deal with being so small on a truck-filled turnpike, or can you put up with snow and the extreme challenge of driving a rwd car so low to the ground in 6-8 inches of white stuff. The cold weather comfort level isn't the greatest, and even heavy rain can cause some anxiety. If you can park it in bad conditions and use it when it's nice out and on open roads, it can't be beat. Drive it like you're on a motorcycle....anticipate some people won't notice you.

i have a civic and a miata. I LOVE the MIATA. you should get one if you like handling. the miata drives better than the civic as far as power and handling goes. I love the fact that it is compact. I am a student and this compact size is great when it comes to getting a closer parking space. the trunk space is small, you can't even fit a laundry basket inside of it. overall it is a great car. i am planning to sell my miata (99). if you are interested, let me know and I can email you pictures and info.

Why are you an angry Civic driver?

If it's about reliability, I don't think a Miata is going to be any more or less reliable than a Civic.

As far as power? I wouldn't go taking on any S2000s, Civic Si's, Boxsters, or even PT Cruiser GTs in stock trim...'cause you'll lose. But if you are accustomed to a D-series powered N/A Civic I think you'll be quite pleased. Driving an MG Midget or Triumph Spitfire is a lot of fun and they only have about 1/3rd of the horsepower of an MX5

Comfortable? If you are 6'5" and 350+ lbs probably not. You might wanna look into an Eldorado or something.
