I'm getting around 22-24 in mixed driving depending on my mood, if you know what I mean. That would be about 360 miles to bone dry.

ORIGINAL: the_gray_mazda6 how much better would your mpg be when you installed the air filter? whats the difference between that and the kit? I put the K&N replacement filter in and it made no difference in mileage. Zip, Zero, Nada. I'm averaging 21-23 with combo hwy/city driving of about 65/35. I'm a little bit disappointed, hoped it might be better. 2006 S Sport, V6/ATX, 3500mi on the clock. maybe it will get better when it breaks in further.

Well, the V6 is not known for good fuel mileage! After all, it is a Ford engine. You should definately see at least 1 mpg difference in the Air Filter or something is not right. I had a drop in air filter in my I4 and it made a slight difference. 1 to 2 mpg. Not much but it can add up over time!

I got mine in August. 6i Sport w/ 2.3liter Took a trip to Phila from NH and arrived with 457 miles on the odometer and still hadn't seen the light come on. I got 34 mpg. I have been getting 30-32 so far with normal driving.

Just took a trip from Louisville to Orlando back in July/Aug and with the cruise on about 72mph, I was getting just a hair under 35mpg. On my normal commute, 45 miles round-trip and 90% hwy, I average about 32mpg. 5-speed 2.3l '03 6i

Are you running the A/C a lot? Or what do you drive on most HWY or City?

I'm impressed with how much better gas mileage the manual transmissions are getting compared to the automatics. The listed difference is like 1 mpg, but from what I've read here, it's much more substantial. Personally, I wouldn't want a stick shift - it's too hard to eat a double-double, french fries, and soda when you've got to shift all of the time.
