Yeah i had a cracked air hose too, but I got it replaced. I live in Louisiana and it is hot here also. It didnt give me problems last summer either, but one day my mom took the car to work and a 18-wheeler flipped over on the interstate and she had to idle for like an hour straight and she said it went dead. It took a while to crank it back up. This problem didnt start happening until this occured. So im guessin somethin overheated and melted an important senor or somethin to do with the electrical system. I have about 140,000 miles on it. How many miles does yall have?

i have about 134,000 miles on my 1.6 and just recently started doing this and i lived in miami for a little bit so i had to sit in traffic alot so that could be another reason why it does that

Seriously it does help a little bit, but believe me, you should get that intake, i swear i just bought the same one from the same guy and that has made the biggest difference in the way the car sounds and the way it performs. you might want to get another air filter though because the one i got was in real bad condition.  ever since i put it on i beat a 92 prelude by like 3 car lengths and was able to keep up with a 330i. that had to be the best thing ive bought for my car. seriously

I seem to be having problems with my starter, I was told to change all my wires as well, but I still have the same problem.  I can push start it, and some people said that it may just be the wire going to the starter.  But I don't even now where to look for the starter on a '98 Mazda Protege LX, 1.8L DOHC.  Any ideas !!
