I'm new here, and am thinking about buying a Mazda3i touring 2.0 auto. What's the difference in the S and the I. Also, am I making a wise choice in the car? I only have so much money.

Engine torque is one of the major performance differences between the 2.0 & the 2.3L. Hp too, but to a lesser extent. Fuel mileage seems to vary widely between owners of both, but you will no doubt get better mileage w/the 2.0... trans choice to trans choice that is. You will always get worse mileage out of an auto. Remember, in spite of the manual shift "mode," it's still only a modified slush-box complete w/a torque converter. As far as amenities are concerned, there are many. From power windows/locks to fog lights to A/C, which I just found out is optional in most Canadian models. Since you don't say where your from, I thought that might be significant. What ever you decide to do with the car as far as dress ups, or mods (i.e. rear spoiler/wing, wheels locks, Cold Air Intake, fog lights, etc,) they will be much cheaper (depending largely on your bargaining skills) and easier for you if you include them in your original deal as opposed to trying to add them later. May I suggest that you go to the MazdaUSA site, assuming of course that you are in the USA, and "build" several cars. In large part, that should help you determine the differences you may or may not want. And don't forget to look through the Mazda and MazdaSpeed accessory catalogs too. Do this before you visit your dealer and have print outs in hand so you can refer to them during negotiations.

am i right to assume that the I and the S are U.S.A symbols. cuz we dont have the I or the S. we have the GX, GS and GT. im assuming this because i always see people saying they have the 3I or the 3S. lol just need some clarification on that lol
