I've got a pretty major issue with my 94 626 right now. My piston rings are either worn out or have rotated and am getting oil on my spark plugs. 4 out of the 6 cylinders are having this problem and have been told that basically the only option is to have the motor rebuilt or buy a new one. I was wondering if anybody knew the engine code for the 2.5L v6 or if anybody had any suggestions as far as whether or not to just replace the whole thing. Thanks

if it threw a code then you should be able to take it to an autozone and they can hook it up and tell you what it is.  they do it free and can even help with replacement parts if needed.

Engine code am guessing that you are after would be a KL. The 4 cylinder engine is designated an FS by Mazda

yeah, I've looked around on the internet and I've got the KLZE. maybe someone could help me give a little diagnosis. My car isn't starting, I've checked and my plugs are sparking, when i try to start the car i smell gas, but it still refuses to start. When I checked the spark plugs 4 of them had something that looked like oil pooled on them. I've been told I probably have some piston rings out. But since that would result in a major repair, or new engine, I want to make absolutely sure that this is the actual problem.

Thanks a lot
