I recently purchased a salvage ABS/TCS HU/CM unit (TCY6-43-7A0 2000 Mazda Millennia S), and installed it, and I am still getting a code 17 (C1117 engine speed (RPM) input signal circuit failure), and my TCS OFF light will not go out! I have done all the diagnostic aids for a code 17 and TCS OFF issues according to Mazda and my Mitchell repair info and still can't find the problem. The car has also been to 2 different Mazda Dealer Techs and so far no luck. The TCS Off switch tested ok the instrument cluster is not the problem according to a Mazda tech! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have this exact problem for a couple years now, I have literally taken the upper part of the engine apart to replace and check all the vacuum tees and hoses and check all solenoids as everyone has suggested and no luck.  I brought it to the dealer and they went though all that you list in your note and they were unable to fix it.  Mazda is not very helpful with this problem and its very common.

Have you heard anymore on this?  If I do I will be sure to  to convey to you.

When I resolve this issue I will be sure to post what fixed it, but I don't seem to be getting to much help on the issue!

Hi 2000smazda, Please keep posting and let us know if you get this resolved. I got a 99 millenia S.
I am having a very similar issue and had replace the front ABS sensors and now mazda is telling me I may have to replace the entire TCM control module, BUT they are not 100% sure. They're also getting a C1095(54) code.

Any ideas on this? I am planning to troubleshoot it my self but I dont know where to start.

Troubleshooting of the C1095 is fairly straightforward. In the second pic that 2000smazda posted of the ABS/TCS control module connector, the pins labeled AA,AB,AC, and AD are the power/voltage in and ground wires for the module. AB and AC (both of these wires are Blue with Red stripe ) are power/voltage in from the 60Amp ABS fuse. If fuse is ok and both of these wires have battery voltage with key on then check AA and AD (both of these wires are Black with White stripe) for good solid continuity to ground. If all of this checks out and light continues to be set after starting, ,driving and coming to a complete stop then the ABS/TCS module is suspected to be at fault. It does note that if C1266 or C1186 are also stored to troubleshoot them first but diagnostic is virtually identical.

Thanks babyhuey, the problem is very inconsistent. The ABS, TCS and TCS OFF lights go on and off intermittently, all of them at the same time.

Usually when I turned the ignition key on the ABS either stays on longer or only for less than three seconds. Sometimes just by shutting the car off and then on again, the ABS light goes away. Very frustrating, I don’t get it.

If you have any ideas please let me know. Take care.

Finally! I checked all the pins AA, AB, AC, AD.
AB and AC had voltage. AA, AD have good continuity to ground.
SO I am assuming the problem is with the HU/CM
Is there a way to fix the TCM control module by removing it from the HU and taking it apart? Or should I start saving money to by a new unit? Unfortunatelly, I haven't been able to find any available 99 milly S 2.3L for parts replacement.

Hey 2000smazda, acccording to mazda I need the same one (TCY6-43-7A0) that you just replaced, how much you got it for? was it new or rebuild?

Thanks.
