I just bought an 03 Protege.  I really like the front bumper of the Protege 5.  Can I swap the original bumper out for the Protege 5 bumper?  If so, can I do it stock?  Thanks so much for the help.

you should be able to do that swap. i think it might look a little bit funny unless you do the skirts and the rear bumper. it also may take a little upfitting to get it right, but it might not.

I was thinking about doing this on a 99 Protege I am about to buy. I was wondering how much work it's going to take.

I don't think so if that fits on the Protege 3. It might be but  I'm sure you got it difficult.

99 is in the same generation but the headlights, hood, and fenders are different, so there would be a lot of conversion to swap the two. it could be done, but why not just go buy a new car?

I'm not sure, but it kinda looks like the mazdaspeed protege has the same bumper as the 5.  If they are the same then I would think that they should easily swap.  I was kinda thinking about this myself.

So if the same bumper fits on the mazdaspeed, it should fit on the regular protege.... right?

yeah. all of the mazda proteges are on the same platform from 99-03 and the 2002 and 2003 have the same fenders, hood, and clip. so they all have the same mounting points with no mod to the subframe. i have seen mazdaspeeds with regular sedan clips on them.

A MazdaSpeed or ES of the same year will have the same nose.  If you are getting from a boneyard, try to get the fog lights too.  Problem is, most these cars in the boneyards have the nose busted in, so finding a cheap isn't going to be easy.
