I have a 2003 mazda 6 and my check engine light has been on for a few weeks, but the car runs fine.  The temp.  stays normal.  Yesterday it started sputtering and I could not go faster than 45mph.  I would mash the gas pedal to the floor but  could go no faster and my Traction Control System cut off.  Has any one heard of this?? HELP???

My 03 Mazda 6 did kind of the same thing a few months ago...the check engine light was on for a long time and no problems...then one day it sputtered a little and then it kept accelerating and wouldnt stop going. I had to fight it with the brake and turn the car off....I took it to the dealer and it was 600 bucks to fix...said it was something with the Fuel lines....now a few months later it just came on again this morning. I dont know what to do now....

Was the CEL flashing or just on solid when it started sputter and not going over 45mph??  The first thing to do in both cases is to find out what kind of code has been set that has caused the CEL to come on. Many parts stores will check codes for free in hopes that you will then buy what they think is causing the problem. You can also purchase a scan tool but will have to make sure it is compatible with your car.  Just get the code number and we can take a look at what it means and what possible causes could be creating the problems you are having. Code should start with the letter P and then four numerical digits such as P1170 or P0300. Warranty does cover a CEL on if you are still within 4 years or 50k miles.
